Thank You Walmart Pickup!!

Please tell me I am not the only one who jumped for joy when they saw that Walmart had grocery pickup?? When I saw them painting the side of the building orange, I thought I was dreaming!! Like, I don’t ever have to go inside Walmart and stand in an hour-long line?? ABSOLUTELY, SIGN ME UP!!

The Walmart in my neighborhood is known to be one of the worst in the city. It is a “super” one that has everything from fresh produce and deli meats to bed comforters and car tires. Everything you need, they have it! My experiences since this Walmart opened in the early 2000’s my neighborhood have been very lackluster. It is great having a store that has everything you need and is opened 24 hours. Taking into consideration I am a night owl and seem to need things in the middle of the night, I always made it a habit to go after 9pm when everyone needing public transportation was home. Is it wrong for me to not want to be there during the daytime chaos? I don’t think so!!

So, enter last year. In November I made it a point to plan monthly and prep weekly for my meals and snacks. Not only would this save me money from eating out, but I can also control my portions and what I am taking into my body. Since it is just me, it has been a pretty good system with breakfast, lunch and dinner prep. What I found though with planning ahead, is that it requires a lot of time and dedication to physicalyl monthly plan. Yes, the planning is time consuming but it is the grocery shopping for the month that takes the cake. I don’t mind spending the few hours it takes to plan my meals for the next 30 days, but I hate having to go into the store, and then walk every aisle for another few hours to get what is needed for the month. It is so time consuming and with a busy life style, I don’t have that type of time. So, I figured, why not give it a try!

I was a little leery with the first order I placed with Walmart Grocery online. It had only been in existence at this location a month or so. Would I trust these Walmart employees to pick the best groceries for me? The freshest produce and thee best meat from those departments? Nope! So, I ordered my dry ingredients and pantry items online and prayed for a good experience. I must say using the grocery pickup is one of the best decisions I have made!

First, let me commend Walmart for making the online site and interface very user friendly. If you are familiar with any other type of online shopping, then the site will be pretty easy for you to navigate. You can either search by department or they have a search bar where you can input a specific item you are looking for. As with other online ordering, you place the items in your cart you want to purchase. Once you have all the items in your cart you want, you then select the date and time you want to pick them up. The pickup schedule makes it easy and convenient for you to get your groceries. You can get your items up to a week from the day of purchase, as early as 8 am and as late as 8 pm, another great feature Walmart has.

Here we are now in February and guess what? I have been ordering online since then!! I LOVE IT!!! My mom always laughs when I tell her every Sunday afternoon I have to pick up my groceries after church. She thinks it is the funniest thing not to go inside the store to pick out your items, but to sit in your car and have someone bring your groceries to your car! I have always been someone to try new things at least once and giving grocery pick up at Walmart a try has saved me time and sanity! Thank you, Walmart Pickup!!

P.S. To date, I am even ordering fresh produce online. So far, so good!! Try it and let me know how your experience goes…
